GENERAL ELECTION 2017: SOUTH WEST DEVON
On 8th June this nation faces a stark choice: strong and stable leadership under a Conservative Government led by Theresa May or a Coalition of Chaos led by Jeremy Corbyn.
When we wake up on 9th June (if we go to bed that night) either Theresa May will be our Prime Minister or Jeremy Corbyn. There are no other possibilities.
A SOBERING THOUGHT

- Our national security
- Our nation’s defences
- Our Brexit negotiations
IT DOES NOT BEAR THINKING ABOUT
Of all the general elections I have fought this one is largely about the national picture and the future of our great country. In a world of danger and uncertainty we desperately need a strong hand on the tiller. At a time when the country has voted to leave the EU, we need clear and decisive leadership to take us through Brexit successfully and into our new place in the world.
The British people have spoken and settled this matter. They have voted to leave the EU, and I accept that decision and will play my part in making Brexit work for the UK.
Every vote for me in South West Devon and Theresa May will strengthen our Brexit negotiating position and help us to plot a clear course into a confident future.
Please vote for strong and stable leadership in the national interest on 8th June

Under our system of parliamentary democracy, every election is a mixture of local and national issues. Although this one has such a huge national focus, it is important for me to set out my priorities for the next five years. These are:
- Continuing the fight for a twenty-first century train service and transport infrastructure for the South West
- Supporting our region’s military presence, including the naval base, dockyard and as a centre for our magnificent Royal Marines
- Continuing the battle for a fair education funding settlement for all local schools

This is a dangerous and rapidly-shifting world. The House of Commons is an inexperienced House, with two thirds of its members elected on or after 2010.
This is my seventh general election. I have been a minister under John Major and in the front bench teams of different leaders in opposition. I chair all kinds of committees and sessions at Westminster.
I aim to bring all of that experience into the next Parliament
I live in the constituency with my family and love this area deeply.
I offer myself to you once more as a voice of experience in a changing world.
I will do my best for this constituency and this country.
I will fight for the best possible Brexit deal for this country and support our outstanding Prime Minister.
