Today I visited Lucerne Fields, the Barratt Homes development in Ivybridge, marking the 60th anniversary of the five-star housebuilder.
Barratt Homes was founded by Sir Lawrie Barratt back in 1958 and is the UK’s largest housebuilder, building more than 17,300 homes last year. Over the past 60 years it has built 450,000 houses, helping some 2.8 million families make their home.
The five-star house builder is creating a selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes at Lucerne Fields, a vibrant new community in Ivybridge.
Not only will the development provide valuable new homes for the region but work at Lucerne Fields has created work for more than 600 people during the construction and sales phases.
I was given a tour of the development by Paul Moran, managing director of Barratt Homes in Exeter together with sales director Sara Parker. Lucerne Fields is a testament to how a new scheme can bring much needed homes to a community while at the same time adding real value by integrating contemporary designs into a traditional location. The quality of the new homes was evident and the care taken to ensure the development fits into the surrounding locale was clear.
Commenting on the visit, Mr Moran said: “We’re extremely proud of Lucerne Fields and are getting terrific feedback from residents. It was the perfect opportunity to demonstrate to Gary the quality of our work and high levels of customer satisfaction we are achieving.”
