Local MP, Gary Streeter, has welcomed new funding awarded to Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team (Plymouth) in his South West Devon constituency.
The government funding is part of a £1 million package being awarded to dozens of charities working to keep inland waterways around the country safe, helping with the cost of new equipment to help volunteer search teams save lives more quickly and easily.
Dartmoor Search and Rescue will receive £7,057.09, to ensure that it can continue to keep people safe on and around the water.
Commenting, Gary said:
“I am delighted that the Conservatives in government have recognised the fantastic work done by the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team here in South West Devon, and are providing support to allow them to continue doing so.
“The volunteers of Dartmoor Search and Rescue are the unsung heroes of the UK’s moorland and waterways – their commitment saves lives and on behalf of the whole community, I extend my sincere thanks to them for their work.”
